Measuring and Assessing Aided Audibility Using the SII

13 APR, 2022 ● 6:00 pm (CET)

C. Fisher, M.Cl.Sc.

The Speech Intelligibility Index (SII), is a quantification of the proportion of speech information that is both audible and usable for a listener. It is a number from 0% to 100% which is strictly correlated to the intelligibility of speech. For instance, an SII score of 25% indicates that almost half of the speech for a specific level will be understandable for the patient, while an SII score of 80% indicates that, most of the speech, will be understandable.

During this session, Clayton Fisher, clinical audiologist and audiology consultant, guides clinicians through a hearing aid fitting using Real-Ear Measurement (REM) and interprets the obtained aided SII values.
